Active Glasgow Clubmark is the development and accreditation scheme that has been developed by Glasgow City Council in
partnership with several key partners, including CHILDREN 1ST. The scheme aims to recognise and accredit clubs
that are committed to providing an effective, safe and inclusive environment for their members, especially
children, and the local community.
There are three levels of accreditation offered within the programme which will ensure that all clubs are rewarded and
given the appropriate support needed to develop to their chosen levels.
Typical benefits of the scheme that you can expect as an accredited club are as follows:
- Advice and support on relevant child protection procedures for sport clubs.
- Advice on funding available to voluntary sports clubs.
- Dedicated Clubmark Officer support.
- Enhanced links and access to council resources, including facilities.
- Education and training opportunities for club personnel, including coaches, child protection officer and general committee
training.
- Assistance and support on recruiting and retaining volunteers.
- Links with both primary and secondary schools involved in your sport.
- Links to the Sports Council for Glasgow and National Governing Bodies of Sport.
Glasgow City Council officially launched the Active Glasgow Clubmark scheme on 28th February 2006 at Glasgow City Chambers.
The Clubmark scheme has received the backing of Sir Alex Ferguson and will be crucial to the development and sustainability
of all clubs involved.
